Finding the best place to dive, plunge, and swim seems exciting in Besigan Falls. We may question why it is exciting; however, we can only confirm it because of its convenience and location. Well, Besigan Falls is just a fifteen-minute hike or walk from Besigan Elementary School. Also, local trekkers know where Besigan is. It is a barangay in the city of Cagayan de Oro with more than 1,670 inhabitants according to the 2015 Census. In other words, this unimportant place only represents 0.25% of the total population of Cagayan de Oro. Records from the Local Government Units (LGU) provide a surprising piece of information that the population of Besigan grows from 377 in 1990 to 1,673 in 2015 as mentioned on Philatlas.Com. For 25 years, Besigan grows and inhabits 1,296 people based on the 2015 Census. Wikipedia, an online dictionary and source of information, gives details of Besigan, which positions itself at approximately 8.2647, 124.5557 in the abundant island of Mindanao. Vacationers know that the elevation at these coordinates will be at the estimates of 390.4 meters above sea level.
As well, the adjacent barangays of Besigan share a common border with San Isidro, Talakag, Bukidnon; Rogongon, Iligan; Barangay 3 (Poblacion), Talakag, Bukidnon; Barangay 1 (Poblacion), Talakag, Bukidnon; Barangay 5 (Poblacion), Talakag, Bukidnon; Tignapoloan, Cagayan de Oro; and Dansolihon, Cagayan de Oro according to Philatlas.Com. This place gives new hope among holidaymakers who work hard to promote local tourism and to improve the area. Mr. Datu Cordoba, a cacao farmer from Cagayan de Oro and an acquaintance on Facebook shows visitors and even local tourists the magical and wonderful pictures of the area. The green grass along the roads and the cold atmosphere in the area give us a simple, yet happy adventure to see the cascading waters of Besigan Falls.
Oh, how do we get there? Some people are asking where to go to this awesome place to dive. They cannot just resist going to the calm, cool, and refreshing waterfalls hidden in somewhere in the borders. The misty road going to the area evokes memories of silence of life and love. The misty road appears to be local that reminds us to take our childhood dreams and wishes back in time. Since the place is new, it seems easy for us to go to Besigan Elementary School. We can find someone who will tour us around. Well, that seems inviting.
Iligan City’s waterfall pride gives us an exciting wet adventure. Wikipedia, which is an open dictionary, provides us the location of Tinago Falls. Bloggers, as well as vloggers, mention that the cascades of water of Tinago Falls on the Agus River fall in between the town of Linamon and Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte. Local travelers and holidaymakers know that this place is in the northern part of Mindanao in the Philippine islands and that they love the location where they can spend their long weekend adventure. Tinago Falls appears to be the City of Majestic Waterfalls and one of the significant tourist attractions of Linamon town or Iligan City.
We may be wondering where we get the term “Tinago.” Well, “Tinago” means “hidden” or “concealed,” which translates hidden falls for “Tinago Falls.” Based on the geographic location of the tourist spot, Tinago Falls is being hidden in a subterranean gorge in which all tourists and vacationers must go through roughly 500 zigzagging stairways. The descending steps toward the falls allow vacationers do their physical exercises by walking and make them keep this beautiful spot. This concealed tourist attraction, which is hidden from the strangers at first, slowly gains its guests and visitors. As well, only those who know the area and those who keep on visiting the place can enjoy the cold cascading waters. However, we need other people to visit the place and experience swimming. We can tell that Tinago Falls gives us an exciting feeling as we descend through the winding staircases into the calm and deep basin-like structure of the pool.
Surprisingly, we can witness the miracle of the place. The cerulean blue lagoon in the basin-like pool beautifully enchants us, as well as compels us to dive into it. A writer from Wikipedia mentions that the presence of a small cave veiled somewhere in the cascading waterfalls adds wonder of some legends and the unknown. As pointed out, tourists can listen to the echoing and reverberating waters as they enter into the cave.
Before we forget, we want our readers to know the location of Tinago Falls. They have to check the cavernous ravine in Barangay Ditucalan, Iligan City where they can find the dropping waters from the falls that plunge 240 feet high from a cliff. This measure seems inviting that we can take our time partaking into and swimming in Iligan City’s best waterfall in the country. As one of the urban centers of Northern Mindanao, Iligan City becomes the metropolis of imposing and magnificent waterfalls like the well-known Maria Cristina Falls.
So, what are we waiting for? We need to check the Tourism Office of Iligan City if everything is set due to the changing guidelines and instructions from the local and national governments. Once all are set, we have to pack our things up, get ready for our swimming gear, and plunge into the cool and refreshing waterfalls.
Oh, how do we get there?
If we are from Luzon and Visayas, Laguindingan Airport gives us the best entry point. Laguindingan Airport provides us a comfortable and pleasurable trip to both cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro. From Laguindingan Airport, we can get a shuttle vehicle service to Iligan City. When we arrive, we can see various booths for the shuttle vehicle services like the Super 5 buses or vans to the city. We only need less than two hours for travel.
If we are from Cagayan de Oro City Proper, we have to head to Westbound Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal. We take the non-stop or not non-stop bus to Iligan City. We just need ₱150 plus or minus for bus fare.
Spending our time with family members and friends seems fun. It appears even more appealing if we spend our memories with them on a classy, exquisite, impressive, and spectacular beach. As expected, we, of course, have to pay for the necessary charges for using the venues. Depending on the type of beach resorts whether sophisticated or simple, we have to spend our money on fun and excitement. However, we have so many things to learn about gimmicks and hangouts. We have to distinguish that we can relish things without spending much money. We can go to the beach for free. Does it sound strange?
Jasaan Beach in Jasaan Misamis Oriental gives us an exciting adventure without smashing our wallet or breaking our bank. If we are from Cagayan de Oro, we can just take a public utility vehicle (PUV) via Jasaan Liner at Agora Market where jeepney terminals for Jasaan Liners wait for passengers. Perhaps, we can drive our cars to Jasaan. We do not have to worry about where Jasaan Beach is. We can see it as we drive along the highway. The beach, to be sure, does not have a name. It is just called Jasaan Beach since the beach is in Jasaan. We can see it when we reach Jasaan. Besides, people there are friendly. Now, when we find a parking spot for our car, we can settle ourselves in, go to the beach waters, and dive to cool down for ourselves. After diving, we can pack our things up, get ready, and go home just as simple as that.
As well, the best thing to go to Jasaan Beach is to go there with family members and friends. Sometimes, we will take our loved ones and crushes there while enjoying the talking. Young adults who are in love may usually go there as their space to enjoy walking in nature. You only need to spread your carpet on the sand, lay down all your food stuff, and talk about anything under the sun. Since the place does not have cottages, we can only use the beach at our own risk. Sometimes, our friendly dogs nearby may snatch and steal our food products while we are busy swimming in the cool beach waters.
Highland biking, mountaineering, or trekking to the bucolic site in the Philippines seems a sensible decision to make. With all the pressure and strain we face every day, we have so much to do to take care of ourselves. Certain groups of biking aficionados, for instance, have recently taken the challenge to go mountain biking or even highland walking to defy the odds of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of them take a fresh adventure to some places they keep on visiting. Of course, we can confirm that the Philippines has a lot to offer. In Mindanao, for example, we can cherry-pick various stunning spots that accommodate us all to experience some promising adventures and once-in-a-life-time opportunities. In Misamis Oriental, Mindanao, Philippines, we do have numerous sites that give us some exciting group-hangout escapades. Aside from the different locations for us to get our bikes, biking paraphernalia, and trekking shoes ready, we need to save our energy to the newly-found nirvana so that we can have our strong limbs to commence on a journey of a lifetime.
One of the best spots to take our adventures today is Sebu’s Haven. Well, the name sounds bizarre, but yes, it is Sebu’s Haven. Local tourists, holidaymakers, and weekend trekkers know that Sebu’s Haven is in Rosario, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. We can get to the Santa Ana Road and then make a demanding mountainous trip to the fresh, lofty, and soaring spot of Sebu’s Haven. Along the way, we may encounter a bumpy ride due to rough roads nearby after the edge of the concrete pavement. Toward the uphill and downhill sections of the road, we experience something new and somewhat magical – magic of an amazing adventure that we often think we have to do it over and over again. While trekking toward the Sebu’s Haven landscape, we can also experience the dreamlike scenery in a movie of the area’s bracing and invigorating view, the considerable fog and mist, and the refreshing breeze of the seasons. This experience is what we want, right? Well, we are not talking about getting lost in life. We are just talking about unwinding ourselves from the different forms of stress at home, at work, and in the community. As well, we just need to forget about the daily hullabaloos and the prison-like stay-at-home and physical distancing policies. We are not complaining about such circumstances, but we have to limber up and get into the swing of our stress, as well as get revitalized just a little bit.
Additionally, the next time we set our adventures, we just prioritize Sebu’s Haven. We do not mind the hubbub and trouble of going there – the rough roads and the bumpy rides; we just have to let things happen. Anyway, it is our adventure, not theirs. Therefore, we set our plans if we want, pack our things up, wear our gear on, and drive and trek to Sebu’s Haven. Everyone, including our special friend Riza Bade and her friends, has been there. We even ask her to use her photos with friends since her friends have a good grasp of the camera. Like the joy that Riza Bade and her friends attain, we, too, can experience the joy and miracle of nature. When we get there, we bet that we very much like the topography of the site.
Entrance Fee Rate
Oh, did we miss something? Yes, we did. We have to pay for the entrance fee (per head) for only ₱20.00. It does not have any cottage for now; however, the management has been working for it to be made available for overnight sojourns and camping activities. The best part of this adventure is that we get to know ourselves and that we spend our time with friends and loved ones.
Heading to the Location
We have to know that the exact address of Sebu’s Haven is at Brgy. Rosario, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, Mindanao. From the junction of Tagoloan National Highway to Santa Cruz Road, we only take more or less 11.5 kilometers to reach the destination. If we go there by car from Cagayan de Oro, we take the Tagoloan National Highway-Santa Ana-Malitbog roads. In the distance, we turn left at the junction of Barangay Rosario. Well, we can take the route with Waze or Google Maps to set our destination to Sebu’s Haven. If we go there by public utility vehicle (PUV) from Cagayan de Oro, we just take a PUV going to Santa Ana-Tagoloan Liner. Please check the jeepney’s signboard. Then, get off the PUV and from Rosario Barangay Road, climb or go straight to an uphill rough road that leads to the site. Probably, if we want to take the motorcycles locally known as “habal-habal” from Sta. Cruz Junction, it will be better as that drive directly leads to the site.
A Few Reminders
We make sure that our adventures are safe and sound. As we take our camping and traveling route, we must be careful with the steep road ahead. We are advised to use motorcycles or mountain trekking vehicles like the 4×4 car due to the road conditions. As suggested, we just need to visit the place in the course of sunny days. We know that the road will get muddy and slimy when rainy days come. We just need to travel safely during the sunny season. When we decide to get there, we need to travel during daylight since the place gets pretty dark during night time. Additionally, we extend our patience as we always have to give our way toward the area since a few travelers, also, take their trips there. Moreover, we just need to buy our own food and drinks since we cannot find any corner shops, food shops, or restaurants available in the area. Oh, before we forget, we must leave our vehicles down the road, particularly at the end of the concrete pavement. Remember the rough and steep roads? In this case, we just have to trudge upfront to the area.
The Philippines has been popular for its tourist destinations around the world. It offers numerous beautiful tourist spots that surely captivate the hearts of guests and visitors. As well, it crafts a landmark in the world and puts the country in the global spotlight. Because of this, we are so proud to introduce our top-five tourist destinations in the country, which we personally choose. The selection of these sites does not undergo a critical evaluation of how each of them ranks. The position, as well as the ranking of these spectacular travel destinations, comes to light based on the subjective choice of the writer. Please continue reading to find out why such rankings transpire.
Fortune Island – Batangas
Local and foreign travelers around the world can confirm the beauty of Fortune Island. They can witness that the whole island appears to be a replica of Greek’s famous Parthenon of the ancient Greece. If they try to look at it closely, they can see the Greek relics and ruins plus the Grecian pillars and statues that tower the sea. The overlooking Grecian pillars above the sea, for instance, will remind them of the magnificent splendor of Greek power and might. Down below is the 100-foot cliff at the edge. If they try to dive into the water, they have to go to the blue holes down below. The management of Fortune Island does not allow divers to take a plunge from that cliff to the ocean. Divers have to go down and enjoy the cold refreshing beach waters. As they go down, they can see that the island has a ridge with two holes with five (5) feet in diameter. If they choose to enter into the holes, they can witness the grandeur of the cave. Also, they can go somersaulting into the blue waters and do picture-taking in its Greek-like structures. Perhaps, they can just stopover at the MV San Diego Warship Museum after performing some beach activities. Because this place represents Greek’s replica, this spot becomes first in the rank.
Banaue Rice Terraces – Ifugao, Mountain Province
The Banaue Rice Terraces is not the usual destination for you to swim and dive or even hike along the mountain top and then relax at the swimming pools. The reason why we choose this one because it is the Filipino pride. The UNESCO World Heritage Group considers this site an undamaged and raw natural charm. The Ifugao natives who live there are warm and hospitable. They welcome day-trippers and vacationers and even serve them with great food in a tribal cuisine. They offer you genuine Ifugao meals, made of and prepared from the organic rice from the terraces. Well, they also serve local Filipino food. Finally, we choose this site as an adventure location since people can look for something exciting and exotic experiences. This is second on the list since it gives tourists a refreshing mountainous trip.
Boracay Beach – Boracay
Well, the Philippines has abundant islands to go for travel. More than 7,000 islands are available there and become the playground among tourists and vacationers. On the other hand, some islands remain untouched. Other islands in the country are ready for discovery. Of course, we can make more exciting excitement and fun if we want to discover more beach resorts. We can, also, find bounteous prospects for boating, snorkeling, and other water activities. Local and foreign tourists mushroom the area that makes Boracay the most popular destination in the country. The local government units and the management of Boracay work well to improve the services and to provide viable customer services among guests and tourists. Boracay is third on the list because it seems exciting after the local government units and the management of Boracay make some improvements in the area.
Palawan Islands – Palawan
Well, local and foreign tourists alike know what and where Palawan is. They know that Palawan as the biggest island in the Palawan Province, particularly in the western Philippines, houses various tourist spots, such as Port Barton in El Nido; Barracuda Lake, Malcapuya Island, and Kayangan Island in Coron; Subterranean River and Sabang Beach in Puerto Princesa; and more. Well, the capital of Palawan is Puerto Princesa. Additionally, Puerto Princesa holds Subterranean River National Park, Honda Bay, and Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park. Local and foreign vacationers spend their weekends enjoying the area with its exciting beach activities. Palawan is in fourth place despite its wonder. It is because more and more people usually go there that the place appears to be crowded during the summer season.
Chocolate Hills – Bohol
Holidaymakers and vacationers love the Chocolate Hills due to the geological formation. The Local Government Unit and the Department of Tourism work together to make Chocolate Hills one of the best destinations aside from beach resorts. This area in the Bohol province of the Philippines has, at least 1,260 hills. There may be more than the number of hills in the province that allow us to enjoy hiking and walking. Well, some may ask why chocolate hills are not brown. Of course, the lavish green grass that covers the hills will turn brown during the summer season. Perhaps, this makes Chocolate Hills fifth on the list.

We have been talking about Bolao Cold Spring lately. This time we need to mention Sinulom Falls since it is near the area. As well, Sinulom Falls gives us another exciting adventure. Exciting as it is, we can surely enjoy the running water from the Sinulom Falls itself. Well, we do not need to uncover the mystery of why this tourist spot has its unique name. We only need to unfold the truth that Sinulom Falls seems abundant in terms of water in which all people nearby choose to visit the area and take a dive into the water.
We will realize that Sinulom Falls has 28 waterfalls. Before this flowing water reaches Cagayan de Oro to be called Cagayan de Oro River, we can take a glimpse of the eye-catching water and plunge. As nature lovers, we appreciate the areas as it offers us the lavish green landscape that adjoins the place. To imagine it now, we think we make a picnic and adventure into the deep forest.
As well, Sinulom Falls offers us opportunities to discard pressure and stress. It relaxes our minds as we walk into the destination and step into the rocks. As we head down and tread on the crystal clear waters, our feet and toes begin to relax as the cold water attempts to ease the stress of our legs. We can imagine we stroll around the place where we take our family members and friends to experience and witness the lush green venue for relaxation.
Additionally, Sinulom Falls is seen along Talakag, Bukidnon. However, it is best viewed in Tinagpoloan, Cagayan de Oro. According to a source, the owner of the land of Sinulom Falls is Councilor Jay Roa Pascual. To avoid confusion, Sinulom Falls lies within San Isidro, Talakag, Bukidnon, but the entrance to go there is Barangay Tinagpoloan, Cagayan de Oro.
Moreover, we have more options to go to Sinulom Falls. We get there by jeepney or van. However, we better go there using a private vehicle. It seems pretty convenient to use private vehicles to avoid any hullabaloo. However, if we use our vehicles, we make sure that we use a four-by-four (4×4) pick-up type with spiked tires since going to the place appears to be murky when it rains. We can also use our four-by-two (4×2) vehicle if we want; however, we need to leave it at the basketball court.
Finally, we need to prepare some amount of money for the expenses. One website can give us more details. To be sure, we can check out the Happy Trip Website.
If we want to take a different adventure to look for a new view without spending much money or breaking our bank, we can surely think of going somewhat homegrown and local. We know we have many options to choose from, but we realize we have to consider nature, cold spring, flowing watercourses, and mountainous ranges as well. As we think of the best place to go, we ask ourselves why we fail to include a new place in our list. By then, we can think of going to Bolao Cold Spring. Well, many of us do not have any idea of Bolao Cold Spring. To say, the first face of Bolao Cold Spring is in Barangay San Isidro, Talakag, Bukidnon, and the second face is in Barangay Tinagpoloan, Cagayan de Oro. In other words, Bolao Cold Spring unites two places in one adventure that gives local tourists and vacationers moments of fun and enjoyment.
Bolao Cold Spring appears to be one of the stunning and natural-made places in Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon. Local tourists and trekkers recurrently visit, especially if it is summer. It is because Bolao Cold Spring gives us the refreshing cold water that we cannot resist diving into it. The sparkling clear, cool, fresh, and calming water from the Sinulom Falls mesmerizes us to dive. We surely love the ice-cold crystal clear water. We just need to have our food and snacks plus other refreshments since we still have enough time walking in the distance. We just have to trek and pass by the rocky roads with the lavish green mountains nearby. As we head toward the destination, we can reach the narrow footbridge where we can go through it and settle ourselves in the simple, yet home-produced cottage.
Now, we see the crystal water just feet away. We grow excited as we get nearer. We then decide to disrobe ourselves and approach the cool and refreshing waters. Well, we can verify that this place gives us fun and excitement in the local setting as we step into the water. To be sure, we can invite our friends and relatives, or even the whole community to visit the place. We do not need to worry about the budget. We just need a few dollars or pesos to spend. Therefore, the next time to set our plans for a new adventure, we have to choose Bolao Cold Spring near Sinulom Falls in Tinagpoloan, Cagayan de Oro.
Finally, if we want to go there, the best step to make is to visit the tourism office of Cagayan de Oro. Well, this Office has all the details. Please check it out.
