Katubhan Falls and Mat-I Falls: Gifts of nature

The status quo that people face has altered our ways of life. It has controlled us to express our thoughts, made all of us stay at home, and turned our lives into a boring state. Of course, we have paid attention to the very subtle details of the given policies and rules from the local and national governments. However, we have been close enough to surrender. We have become tired of waiting to end this crisis. We have lost everything as we have not fully adapted to the so-called new normal. We have become crazy in a way that we do not know what to do. We just buy pots and plant plants. Others tend to resort to playing mobile legends; whereas, some turn into Netflix. And yet, we have known that some of our friends had to find ways to survive. We drive tricycles like Eric Fructuoso, sell Siomai like Ate Gay, and retail fruit gummies like me. And then, we have become tired of doing this over and over again that we have lost our chances to unwind. Since this pandemic comes near its end, I hope so, we should consider finding ways to unwind. Perhaps, we can go camping beside the hills, swimming in the pool, trekking into the hilly forest. If we do some of these adventure activities, perhaps, we can eliminate the trails of stress and the remnants of frustration that the present condition showers on us. How about going to Katubhan and Mat-I Falls?

How Do We Get There

We only take one hour and thirty minutes to go to Claveria if we are from Cagayan de Oro City. Here is what we do.

    1. We need to communicate with the Claveria Tourism Office first.
    2. Next, we have to hire our local guides. As recommended by Sir Jhong, we can choose either Ar-Ar Abrogar with his mobile phone dial 09755496786 or Kokong Bear Andam with his mobile phone dial 09059610895. We only pay โ‚ฑ00 for the tour guide fee for 10 trekkers.
    3. From Agora Terminal, Cagayan de Oro, we take an air-conditioned van bound to Claveria for only โ‚ฑ00. We expect 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive at the destination.
    4. Then, we meet our local guides in Claveria. Once we do, we take bao-bao, dulog, tuktok, tri-cab, or whatever you call it, going to Barangay Mat-i. Each trekker will pay โ‚ฑ00 per person. We spend 30 minutes in Mat-i Town.
    5. Moreover, we have to be ready and prepare for our knees because we have to hike downhill so steep that we need to take a pause. This descending trek to the falls seems perfect for those adventurous persons.
    6. As well, we cross the river as we head toward the falls. As we cross and trek the river, we make sure we have waterproof bags to keep our belongings dry since we expect the river to be knee-deep level.
    7. Since we food corner shops are unavailable, we have to bring our food and water.
    8. As responsible trekkers and citizens, we bring our trash bags to keep those food wrappers and others as we maintain the area to be clean. We do not need to leave our trash in the site to preserve sanitation around the waterfalls and anywhere in the vicinity.
So, How About Gesturing Our Hands as a Sign of Fulfillment! Please Visit Claveria Today.

So, if we are ready, we set the timetable and make things possible. We would like to thank the following people: AboutCagayandeOro.Com, Sir Jhong, and the Pack of Wolves, as well as the Claveria Tourism Office and Tour Guides.

Sipaka Heights: A perfect embrace of nature

Unwinding ourselves from everyday pandemonium helps us resolve some issues of our wellbeing. When we say health, we consider emotional, mental, and physical issues. We only want to relax just a little bit to end our common and everyday fiasco at home, in school, at work, and in the community. Our friends are correct when they invite us to wind down just a little bit and take their time to be happy. However, we often refuse to take our time because we feel like being edgy and overwrought due to the current predicament in the world. On the contrary, we all have the options to make. We can do all things within our grasp. We are in control. We just donโ€™t mind all forms and shapes of stress that exist around us. We have to take a break. In other words, we have to pause for a moment from what we are doing. We, now, imagine how we can reduce the stressful situations that we are getting into the day-to-day mayhem. When our friends invite us to go somewhere else, somewhere exciting, we need to grab such opportunities and pack our bags. We have to unwind. When our friends ask us to go with them to Sipaka Heights, thatโ€™s the time when we say we better get going.

Lovely as it is, we can enjoy the view of Camiguin since Sipaka Heights allows us to glance the Camiguin Island. Also, we can have a remarkable experience if we plan ahead of time. In doing so, we have to contact the local tourism office in Talisayan. We can ask if we can hire a local tour guide to help us reach the destination safely.

A Breathtaking Experience in the Pictorial of a Lifetime at Sipaka Heights

Eleaga Camping Resort: An amazing escapade

Davao City, which is quite remote from Misamis Oriental, offers some spectacular sites for holidaymakers and travelers like our visit. One of these sites where we love to sojourn is Eleaga Camping Resort. Perhaps, this resort site fascinates us because of some activities to make merry. As well, this nature-like and canโ€™t-miss resort is at Camp Eleaga, Lake Macaduhong, Malabog, Davao City. We can have day tours or overnight stays if we want. Eleaga Camping Resort has tree-houses and close cottages if we want privacy. If we bring food and beverages, the resort does not charge any corkage fees. Of course, that makes sense at all.

Eleaga Camping Resort provides some amenities fishing areas, life jackets for rafting, affordable food services, and videoke machines for sing-a-long moments. It charms its guests and visitors various activities, such as fishing carps and other freshwater fish, diving into the pool, and bamboo rafting. While doing these activities, our loved ones and friends can prepare food there and cook some tribal-style gastronomies or homegrown cuisines.

How about Diving into the Powdered-Blue Swimming Pool

Well, weโ€™re talking about the rates.

    • Day Tour Charge โ€“ โ‚ฑ30.00
    • Overnight- โ‚ฑ80.00
    • Use of the Treehouses โ€“ โ‚ฑ500.00 For Overnight
    • Use of the Close Cottages โ‚ฑ300.00 for Day Tour
    • No Corkage

How about amenities?

    • Eleaga Camping Resort offers videoke services. Since there is no curfew of videoke, we need to minimize the sounds from 9 PM onwards. If some tourists come and spend overnight, they have to stop singing until 9 PM and pay respect to others. If many choose to stay overnight, we have to end the videoke sessions at 9 PM to let others take rest.
    • As well, we can go fishing if want to grill some fish. We just need to bring with us our fishing gear if we wish to catch some fish. Once we get some fish, we kilo it. We have to pay โ‚ฑ100.00 a kilo for freshwater fish. If we go rafting, we have to use a life jacket worth โ‚ฑ100.00 an hour.
    • Additionally, Eleaga Camping Resort provides us with a reasonably priced and sumptuous food on the table. However, if we are not in the mood to cook, we ask the resort to cook for us. We just need to pay for the cooking service fees.
    • Moreover, we can buy something to take home. Perhaps, we can select several memento items to bring at home. If we want pure wild honey, the key chains, and many others, we can have any of them.
Well, We Can Definitely Swim in the Pool. However, We Cannot Swim in the Lake without a Bamboo Raftโ€ฆ

How do we get there?

If we reach Davao City, we take an L3 van or any Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) or Jeepney to Calinan. Then, we need to ask the driver to drop us off at Gaisano Grand Mall.

From Gaisano Grand Mall, we need to look for a single motorcycle good for 2-3 persons to save money. We have to tell the motorcycle drivers that we need to go to the place Camp Eleaga so we can witness the grandeur of Malabog Lake. Well, we just have to ask the driver regarding the fare for a one-way drive. The last time when we checked the one-way ride was โ‚ฑ300.00 for one motorcycle. If we include the back fare, we have to pay another โ‚ฑ300.00. Of course, this situation is an adventure, we do expect of the bumpy ride due to the rock-strewn road. However, it will be even nicer for us if we ride on a four-wheel-drive vehicle like SUV or any vehicles to get there.

Whatโ€™s more, some local tourists highly commend Eleaga Camping Resort for Team Buildings, Family Occasions, and other activities. For us, we consider it just fine. The flowing water from the lake is clean. The management of the resort guarantees that the pool is clean. In other words, the management cleans the pool every day. Oh, before we forget, we highly appreciate the friendly and accommodating customer services, too. If we ask the signal there, Globe gives us the Fourth-Generation (4G) Signal. We can contact the management through this mobile phone dial at 09128889387. Oh, did you ask if the place is safe? Well, what we know is that Police Officers do station around 300 meters to secure the area. Therefore, we are safe.

P.S. Fees may vary.

Don Narciso Cafรฉ: A spectacular scenery to visit

Months ago, my friends invited me to go to Claveria. I asked them why I had to go to Claveria where I could spend my days and nights at home. The physical distancing regulations and the stay-at-home policies were underway, and these rules compelled me to remain immobile. Of course, I was afraid that police officers would catch me in the open when my only reason for going out was to have some fun. I knew police officers would be mad at me knowing that I would only find places to enjoy while the rest were struggling and suffering from the crisis. Besides, fines, once being caught, were high. As a result, I had to stay at home and waited for the COVID-19 pandemic to subside.

A wonderful site of Don Narciso Cafe in Claveria, Misamis Oriental

Conversely, the pandemic has been plaguing the country and the world as well. It has been pushing me to extend my patience. It made me feel even sicker and more bored than usual. Some of my friends back home died because of depression, mental torture, and stress. Without anything on a table due to no food, no job, and no medicine and without any support from the government, some of my friends perished. They died in vain. Even if the national government and the local government helped the people, there were a few officials who failed to show compassion and humanity. They supported their rich friends, or they only helped those people whom they knew. Anyway, I should move on to the present situation. I had to change my perspective in life. I could not turn back times, and we have been in this together. So, I took my chances to go outside and to enjoy just a little bit. I put my face mask on, wore my eyeglasses, and packed all my traveling apparels. Then, I contacted other friends to fetch me. Here they came. With their traveling garments on, we rode in a rented van going to Claveria to try to eliminate the stress and unwind just a little bit.

Customers in a Stunning View of Don Narciso Cafe in Claveria, Misamis Oriental

Traveling has been fun. It seemed that my friends and I just traveled back in time. While traveling, I let go of my musings that evoked my childhood experiences. However, I managed to return to my realities when other friends told me that we were in Claveria then. Yes, we were in Claveria. With more than a few minutes of traveling down the road to Claveriaโ€™s main site, we gladly reached it. Then, we head to Janopolan Nature Spring and Pool to Jacoโ€™s Stopover, Claveria View Deck, and then awesome place Don Narciso Cafรฉ. I felt impressed and overwhelmed seeing the panoramic view. Claveriaโ€™s mountainous site and its cold and freezing atmosphere permitted us to get off the van. So, we stopped right there, ordered some delicious and nutritious food, and got amazed by the splendor of the overlooking and mountainous area.

A Delightful Taste of a Nutritious Food at Don Narciso Cafe

Additionally, Don Narciso Cafรฉ has been awe-inspiring. Its food service, food taste, and view did, however, spell magic in me. I just loved the food and the vista that other tourists adored. In the back of mind, I realized that the province of Misamis Oriental constantly charmed those local and foreign travelers with gripping tourist attractions. This province gave vacationers some stunning sites that showcased eye-catching destinations for travel. Just like other provinces and regions, local businesses and local governments worked hard to promote their provinces. This time, the management of Don Narciso Cafรฉ thrived in promoting Claveria and Misamis Oriental as well. As a result, numerous motorists and holidaymakers, who took Route 955, could stopover at Don Narciso Cafรฉ for breakfast meals and snacks. As well, Don Narciso Cafe served some pasta, loaves of sandwiches, cups of coffee, and smoothies, as well as other cold drinks.

At this point, going outside to breathe and inhale fresh air helped us survive from boredom and depression. It even made us feel alive again. The COVID-19 pandemic has made us vulnerable to emotional and psychological illness because we just imprisoned ourselves in the four corners of our rooms. Psychologically, the physical distancing guidelines and the stay-at-home policies have made me ill. Some of my friends have just died because of depression, heart and panic attacks, and stroke. For me, I had to save myself. I had to go outside to breathe fresh air in the mountains. Since Don Narciso Cafรฉ is open, I have to remove my boredom and stress. For all of us, if we considered that going outside would be beneficial, we could go to Don Narciso Cafรฉ at Route 955, Lanise, Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Furthermore, we could cherry-pick the best food they served:

Finally, we can go to View Deck and then head toward Don Narciso Cafรฉ for more than two-and-a-half-kilometer ride. It meant that we could have twice excitement and fun. If we wished to contact the owner, we could dial their mobile phone dial at 0917 708 5025 for possible booking and reservation, perhaps. Regardless of where we were, we could go directly to Claveria by using Google Maps, simple as it would be.

Picture-perfect as it is, Tiklas Falls appears to be the Atlantis of Gingoog City. Located in the Lawit Town, Gingoog City, this spectacular tourist destination has been the prevailing tourist spot in Misamis Oriental. Essentially, Tiklas Falls mesmerizes all holidaymakers with the captivating and catching cascade of dashing waters. It lets vacationers have their get-together gimmicks and picnics while exploiting the falls as the backdrop. Before arriving at the falls, holidaymakers take 15 minutes more or less on a murky and rock-strewn trail to Tiklas Falls. Just like any other tourist charms, the neighboring sites of Tiklas Falls have various resorts. The city government of Gingoog develops the area as part of the eco-tourism program so that local and foreign tourists can enjoy swimming in a pool. As expected, tourists can see some cottages obtainable for rentals, which cost around โ‚ฑ200.00. The reasonably priced cottages, food and beverages, and other menus are remaining for the visitors. As well, travelers and visitors will pay โ‚ฑ20 (adult) and P10 (children 12 years below) for their entrance fees. With these fees, vacationers can only enjoy the cool and refreshing waters. They can do a lot of excitement and fun. They can, also, take pictures as they stand on the concrete bridge. The picturesque view of the waterfalls permits holidaymakers and travelers to capture the picture-perfect photographs.

Additionally, local and foreign tourists knew that the city government of Gingoog and the management of Tiklas Falls did not allow littering in the area. In this case, they could preserve cleanliness, order, and peace of the place. However, local and foreign visitors also knew that Tiklas Fallsโ€™ management did not have accommodations within the area. They have to return to the metropolitan if they have a week-long experience in the place.

Local tourists and travelers, certainly, call it the โ€œtwin fallsโ€ because of its enormous rock dividing the flow of the waters. Conversely, the Natureโ€™s Park appeared to be under the red alert status in 2018 due to minor issues. As a result, the management of Natureโ€™s Park continued to improve the hanging bridge, the botanical garden, and the mini zoological park to remain off-limits for months. Tourists could even confirm that the usual adventure activities like the tree-top canopy and the zip-lines remained unavailable at that time in 2018. Some said that they were unable to come closer to the falls. According to Tupang Gala, the management placed the Natureโ€™s Park under Red Alert Status because of the awful occasions, such as the bombing in Davao and the war in Marawi. Even if the war was over, the local government and the management of Natureโ€™s Park and Maria Cristina imposed stern measures for the sake of security purposes. However, the place allows tourists to come on Saturdays and Sundays.
