Tinago Island: A paradise of Surigao Del Norte

Local travels are always comfortable and fine. We don’t get to worry about traveling distant places and get panicked by the late arrival to board the planes. Just like some of our friends who got stuck in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the like due to COVID-19, it would be a nightmarish experience for them to eat nothing at the airport and hotel for days since they didn’t have extra money to buy food products. Thus, traveling in the local areas seems appealing and acceptable.

This summer season in the Philippines can be a month-long fun and excitement to dive on beaches and resorts. And yes, this summer getaway can be fun and pleasurable if we get to visit some places safe from quarantine protocols and other restrictions. Tinago Island in Surigao Del Norte can be the best of what we have.

Surigao Del Norte, as a province in Mindanao, Philippines, contains magic and marvel of nature. The beautiful landscapes, the natural spectacles of instragrammable spots for selfies and groupies, and the extending beaches and mountains are the best panoramas to see. The awesome sunsets in the skyline, the sandy beaches with pebbles to collect for our small aquariums, and the sounds of the waves that echo the music of silence into our ears are genuine justifications that Tinago Island in Surigao Del Norte is one real home to stay.

At this point, we need to set our feet to travel and go to Tinago Island. Surprisingly, Tinago Island houses Lapsay Lagoon together with caves, coves, and islets. Lapsay Lagoon, for instance, is a sheltered marine preserve in a group of islands of Barangay Tinago. This Barangay Tinago is in the Municipality of Tagana-an.

In other words, we will check all the beautiful locations and spots in Surigao Del Norte when we visit Tinago Island. A group of friends from Laag Ta Bay can confirm how beautiful and amazing the place is. When we get there, we can do whatever we want to do. Well, the resort owner may offer the following:

    • swimming
    • snorkeling
    • canoeing
    • boating
    • rafting
    • surf/bodyboarding
    • jumping area
    • mountain trekking
    • mangroves tour
    • cottages

However, guests and tourists alike need to remember that some beach activities may have fees ranging between ₱50.00 – ₱150.00.

And yes, you keep on asking how to get there, right?

    • We can go there by car.
    • From Surigao City, we need to follow the map trail until we reach Tagana-an Municipal Hall. It only takes 30 to 45 minutes from Surigao City.
    • Then, we ask where the dock or pier of Tinago Holiday Resort. They somehow mention the direction of Ban Ban Wharf.
    • From Ban Ban Dock or Wharf, we rent a motorboat to take us to the resort. It takes only 10 minutes.

For accommodation, the hotel resort does not provide overnight stays. However, this one isn’t a problem. Plenty of accommodations in Surigao City are always available.

So, what are we waiting for? We need to pack our things up and head on to Surigao Del Norte on Tinago Island.

At Club Tara Resort: Our memories stay forever

My visit to Surigao Del Norte was amazing. I did not have any powerful adjectives to describe the place and my experiences, but I had countless memories to share with my Misamis Oriental Journal readers. I had so much fun. It was because the place gave me excitement and fun and created great moments that I had to live forever. I could not tell other people enough about my experiences because those moments were unique for me to share. I could not even write them down on pieces of paper, back to back, since those memories would only overflow if I tried to string along with those words on the pages. That meant that my Club Tara Resort experience opened my eyes to the opportunities to explore the world outside my comfort zone. When I got the chance to visit Club Tara Resort at Bucas Grande Island, Dona Helen, Socorro, Siargao Islands, Surigao Del Norte, Philippines, 84700, I just realized that I had so much fun managing my time to spend quality time with family members, loved ones, and friends. At Club Tara Resort, I could not ask for more.

A cool and refreshing cerulean-blue, crystal-clear water that attracts local and foreign tourists to dive into and swim in it…

At Club Tara Resort, I felt joy and love. Other tourists who spent their honeymoons in the hotels had celebrated affection and even happiness. The cerulean-blue, crystal-clear beach waters have been so inviting that my family members and I were unable to refuse that tourist attraction. Truly magnificent as it has been, Club Tara Resort, surrounded by woodland islets, has remained prestigious in its form. This cool resort embracing various channeled cottages that rested on columns and pillars over Sohoton Bay could be a one-minute walk from Sohoton Cove. I could surely imagine how I enjoyed swimming in the cool and refreshing waters without minding the sun’s rays that burst flames into the thin air.

As well, I could notice the serene rooms with a stress-free Filipino-style color scheme that would offer bay-view patios and verandas. I did not try the Jacuzzis, but others did. I could still have my drinks at the minibars, as well as my favorite brown tea in the coffee-making facilities. Oh, wait a minute. I did not have children, but kids under six years old could stay for free. One more thing, I could also bring this topic to my attention. The spartan, adults-only dorms in which they could accommodate 10 to 12 people to sleep could be possible. I could, furthermore, notice the bunk beds, shower rooms, and the chances to access a lounge, as well as the balconies to see the grandeur of the forest views, while waiting for the room service to come and to break the silence. All these things seemed to be fascinating.

An amazing aerial view of the Club Tara Resort and the surrounding woodland isles…

What’s more, I could mention these things, too. I could have a good breakfast before kayaking and snorkeling. Did I mention that Club Tara Resort has had a cafeteria, a pool with a bar, and a sequestered seaside with a jetty, as well as a swimming pool table and an orchard? Yes, I did. While promoting this place, I should mention that Club Tara Resort has had free Wi-Fi, an outdoor pool, air-conditioned, room service, child friendly, and a restaurant. In the end, people asked me if I enjoyed my visit to Club Tara Resort a lot. I surely said that I did.

Indeed, if we wished to create meaningful and sweet memories again, we could call or send a message through the mobile phone dial +63 917 522 5500. We knew we had to spend meaningful and quality time with family members and friends. We should not say that we have had so much to do in life and that we have had no time at all. We have spent our time working in the office or wherever we might be. It would be about time to be happy…
