Eleaga Camping Resort: An amazing escapade

Davao City, which is quite remote from Misamis Oriental, offers some spectacular sites for holidaymakers and travelers like our visit. One of these sites where we love to sojourn is Eleaga Camping Resort. Perhaps, this resort site fascinates us because of some activities to make merry. As well, this nature-like and can’t-miss resort is at Camp Eleaga, Lake Macaduhong, Malabog, Davao City. We can have day tours or overnight stays if we want. Eleaga Camping Resort has tree-houses and close cottages if we want privacy. If we bring food and beverages, the resort does not charge any corkage fees. Of course, that makes sense at all.

Eleaga Camping Resort provides some amenities fishing areas, life jackets for rafting, affordable food services, and videoke machines for sing-a-long moments. It charms its guests and visitors various activities, such as fishing carps and other freshwater fish, diving into the pool, and bamboo rafting. While doing these activities, our loved ones and friends can prepare food there and cook some tribal-style gastronomies or homegrown cuisines.

How about Diving into the Powdered-Blue Swimming Pool

Well, we’re talking about the rates.

    • Day Tour Charge – ₱30.00
    • Overnight- ₱80.00
    • Use of the Treehouses – ₱500.00 For Overnight
    • Use of the Close Cottages ₱300.00 for Day Tour
    • No Corkage

How about amenities?

    • Eleaga Camping Resort offers videoke services. Since there is no curfew of videoke, we need to minimize the sounds from 9 PM onwards. If some tourists come and spend overnight, they have to stop singing until 9 PM and pay respect to others. If many choose to stay overnight, we have to end the videoke sessions at 9 PM to let others take rest.
    • As well, we can go fishing if want to grill some fish. We just need to bring with us our fishing gear if we wish to catch some fish. Once we get some fish, we kilo it. We have to pay ₱100.00 a kilo for freshwater fish. If we go rafting, we have to use a life jacket worth ₱100.00 an hour.
    • Additionally, Eleaga Camping Resort provides us with a reasonably priced and sumptuous food on the table. However, if we are not in the mood to cook, we ask the resort to cook for us. We just need to pay for the cooking service fees.
    • Moreover, we can buy something to take home. Perhaps, we can select several memento items to bring at home. If we want pure wild honey, the key chains, and many others, we can have any of them.
Well, We Can Definitely Swim in the Pool. However, We Cannot Swim in the Lake without a Bamboo Raft…

How do we get there?

If we reach Davao City, we take an L3 van or any Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) or Jeepney to Calinan. Then, we need to ask the driver to drop us off at Gaisano Grand Mall.

From Gaisano Grand Mall, we need to look for a single motorcycle good for 2-3 persons to save money. We have to tell the motorcycle drivers that we need to go to the place Camp Eleaga so we can witness the grandeur of Malabog Lake. Well, we just have to ask the driver regarding the fare for a one-way drive. The last time when we checked the one-way ride was ₱300.00 for one motorcycle. If we include the back fare, we have to pay another ₱300.00. Of course, this situation is an adventure, we do expect of the bumpy ride due to the rock-strewn road. However, it will be even nicer for us if we ride on a four-wheel-drive vehicle like SUV or any vehicles to get there.

What’s more, some local tourists highly commend Eleaga Camping Resort for Team Buildings, Family Occasions, and other activities. For us, we consider it just fine. The flowing water from the lake is clean. The management of the resort guarantees that the pool is clean. In other words, the management cleans the pool every day. Oh, before we forget, we highly appreciate the friendly and accommodating customer services, too. If we ask the signal there, Globe gives us the Fourth-Generation (4G) Signal. We can contact the management through this mobile phone dial at 09128889387. Oh, did you ask if the place is safe? Well, what we know is that Police Officers do station around 300 meters to secure the area. Therefore, we are safe.

P.S. Fees may vary.

Don Narciso Café: A spectacular scenery to visit

Months ago, my friends invited me to go to Claveria. I asked them why I had to go to Claveria where I could spend my days and nights at home. The physical distancing regulations and the stay-at-home policies were underway, and these rules compelled me to remain immobile. Of course, I was afraid that police officers would catch me in the open when my only reason for going out was to have some fun. I knew police officers would be mad at me knowing that I would only find places to enjoy while the rest were struggling and suffering from the crisis. Besides, fines, once being caught, were high. As a result, I had to stay at home and waited for the COVID-19 pandemic to subside.

A wonderful site of Don Narciso Cafe in Claveria, Misamis Oriental

Conversely, the pandemic has been plaguing the country and the world as well. It has been pushing me to extend my patience. It made me feel even sicker and more bored than usual. Some of my friends back home died because of depression, mental torture, and stress. Without anything on a table due to no food, no job, and no medicine and without any support from the government, some of my friends perished. They died in vain. Even if the national government and the local government helped the people, there were a few officials who failed to show compassion and humanity. They supported their rich friends, or they only helped those people whom they knew. Anyway, I should move on to the present situation. I had to change my perspective in life. I could not turn back times, and we have been in this together. So, I took my chances to go outside and to enjoy just a little bit. I put my face mask on, wore my eyeglasses, and packed all my traveling apparels. Then, I contacted other friends to fetch me. Here they came. With their traveling garments on, we rode in a rented van going to Claveria to try to eliminate the stress and unwind just a little bit.

Customers in a Stunning View of Don Narciso Cafe in Claveria, Misamis Oriental

Traveling has been fun. It seemed that my friends and I just traveled back in time. While traveling, I let go of my musings that evoked my childhood experiences. However, I managed to return to my realities when other friends told me that we were in Claveria then. Yes, we were in Claveria. With more than a few minutes of traveling down the road to Claveria’s main site, we gladly reached it. Then, we head to Janopolan Nature Spring and Pool to Jaco’s Stopover, Claveria View Deck, and then awesome place Don Narciso Café. I felt impressed and overwhelmed seeing the panoramic view. Claveria’s mountainous site and its cold and freezing atmosphere permitted us to get off the van. So, we stopped right there, ordered some delicious and nutritious food, and got amazed by the splendor of the overlooking and mountainous area.

A Delightful Taste of a Nutritious Food at Don Narciso Cafe

Additionally, Don Narciso Café has been awe-inspiring. Its food service, food taste, and view did, however, spell magic in me. I just loved the food and the vista that other tourists adored. In the back of mind, I realized that the province of Misamis Oriental constantly charmed those local and foreign travelers with gripping tourist attractions. This province gave vacationers some stunning sites that showcased eye-catching destinations for travel. Just like other provinces and regions, local businesses and local governments worked hard to promote their provinces. This time, the management of Don Narciso Café thrived in promoting Claveria and Misamis Oriental as well. As a result, numerous motorists and holidaymakers, who took Route 955, could stopover at Don Narciso Café for breakfast meals and snacks. As well, Don Narciso Cafe served some pasta, loaves of sandwiches, cups of coffee, and smoothies, as well as other cold drinks.

At this point, going outside to breathe and inhale fresh air helped us survive from boredom and depression. It even made us feel alive again. The COVID-19 pandemic has made us vulnerable to emotional and psychological illness because we just imprisoned ourselves in the four corners of our rooms. Psychologically, the physical distancing guidelines and the stay-at-home policies have made me ill. Some of my friends have just died because of depression, heart and panic attacks, and stroke. For me, I had to save myself. I had to go outside to breathe fresh air in the mountains. Since Don Narciso Café is open, I have to remove my boredom and stress. For all of us, if we considered that going outside would be beneficial, we could go to Don Narciso Café at Route 955, Lanise, Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Furthermore, we could cherry-pick the best food they served:

Finally, we can go to View Deck and then head toward Don Narciso Café for more than two-and-a-half-kilometer ride. It meant that we could have twice excitement and fun. If we wished to contact the owner, we could dial their mobile phone dial at 0917 708 5025 for possible booking and reservation, perhaps. Regardless of where we were, we could go directly to Claveria by using Google Maps, simple as it would be.

The city government of Gingoog develops the area as part of the eco-tourism program so that local and foreign tourists can enjoy swimming in a pool. As expected, tourists can see some cottages obtainable for rentals, which cost around ₱200.00. The reasonably priced cottages, food and beverages, and other menus are remaining for the visitors. As well, travelers and visitors will pay ₱20 (adult) and P10 (children 12 years below) for their entrance fees. With these fees, vacationers can only enjoy the cool and refreshing waters. They can do a lot of excitement and fun. They can, also, take pictures as they stand on the concrete bridge. The picturesque view of the waterfalls permits holidaymakers and travelers to capture the picture-perfect photographs.

Additionally, local and foreign tourists knew that the city government of Gingoog and the management of Tiklas Falls did not allow littering in the area. In this case, they could preserve cleanliness, order, and peace of the place. However, local and foreign visitors also knew that Tiklas Falls’ management did not have accommodations within the area. They have to return to the metropolitan if they have a week-long experience in the place.

Maria Cristina Falls: Embracing nature at its best

Maria Cristina Falls has been one of the most famed waterfalls in the Philippines. Its natural landmark makes the local government of Iligan City and its adjacent towns feel very proud. Its cascading water that comes from the Agus River harnesses power as one of the primary sources of electricity in the region. Local tourists and travelers, certainly, call it the “twin falls” because of its enormous rock dividing the flow of the waters. The splendid beauty of the falls even captivates the hearts of the tourists and makes this place a must-see allure in the Mindanao region, particularly in Iligan City and Linamon. Of course, Maria Cristina Falls receives care from the local government. The National Power Corporation, for instance, operates in it that gives people electric powers to all residential households, commercial buildings, and industries. As well, Maria Cristina’s Nature’s Park positions itself between the boundaries of barangays, such as Maria Cristina, Buru-un, and Dicutalan in which holidaymakers and local tourists can spot it directly. Unlike other falls, tourists from the main road can reach the place as they only spend 9.3 kilometers. As tourists do not need trekking to see its beauty due to the visibility of Maria Cristina Falls and Nature’s Park on the road, they can simply spell amazement and wonder of Iligan City.

A Glimpse of the Beautiful Nature of Maria Cristina Falls, Iligan City

Changing Business Conditions

The COVID-19 pandemic and the Red Alert statuses may, somehow, alter the course of actions and business transactions of Maria Cristina Falls. The local and national governments implement strict guidelines and rules on travel. Perhaps, local tourists and holidaymakers can check the tourism office of Iligan City or Linamon and check further details before going there for a swim. They need to check and prepare in advance so that everything will be set when the tourism office of Iligan City gives a go signal for tourists.

Reasons Why Tourists Visit Maria Cristina Falls

Well, the best reasons why tourists become excited about going to Maria Cristina Falls are the awesome landmark of Iligan City, the majestic 320-feet high waterfall, the splendid beauty of nature that school texts fail to describe, the river that flows at the bottom of the falls, the outsized viewing deck and the row of cottages, and the good ambiance of nature by the swishing water and the twittering birds.

A Must-Visit Venue and Highlight of Maria Cristina Falls in Iligan City

The Nature’s Park

Conversely, the Nature’s Park appeared to be under the red alert status in 2018 due to minor issues. As a result, the management of Nature’s Park continued to improve the hanging bridge, the botanical garden, and the mini zoological park to remain off-limits for months. Tourists could even confirm that the usual adventure activities like the tree-top canopy and the zip-lines remained unavailable at that time in 2018. Some said that they were unable to come closer to the falls. According to Tupang Gala, the management placed the Nature’s Park under Red Alert Status because of the awful occasions, such as the bombing in Davao and the war in Marawi. Even if the war was over, the local government and the management of Nature’s Park and Maria Cristina imposed stern measures for the sake of security purposes. However, the place allows tourists to come on Saturdays and Sundays.

Admission

If everything is fine and set, tourists can go there at their convenience. After checking the tourism office and visiting the management of the site, tourists can start packing things well and heading to the area. They only need to pay ₱35.00 for the entrance fee with free parking.

From there, they need to take motorcycles known locally as habal-habal for ₱30.oo per person. Perhaps, they can contact the motorcycle driver to pick them up when they want to go home for another ₱30.00. They have to make sure that their drivers are legitimate and registered members to avoid further incidents.

If tourists come from Cagayan de Oro City, they need to take a bus going to Iligan for only ₱100.00 fare on the Rural Transit bus. Upon arrival, take the jeep going to the town proper.

Well, one important caution is that tourists need to be careful with the constricted and sheer road with a sharp curve while crisscrossing the road.

P.S. PRICE or FEE VARIES. Please check the management from time to time. Anyway, going on an excursion demands planning and preparation. In other words, please check the area first if you can buy something to eat and places to stay. Despite the present situations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and previous events in Marawi, Maria Cristina Falls has remained the best place to visit after this global crisis. At least, for now, we can say, “Welcome to Maria Cristina Falls.”

Besigan Falls: A cascade of water to plunge

Finding the best place to dive, plunge, and swim seems exciting in Besigan Falls. We may question why it is exciting; however, we can only confirm it because of its convenience and location. Well, Besigan Falls is just a fifteen-minute hike or walk from Besigan Elementary School. Also, local trekkers know where Besigan is. It is a barangay in the city of Cagayan de Oro with more than 1,670 inhabitants according to the 2015 Census. In other words, this unexplored and important place represents 0.25% of the total population of Cagayan de Oro. Records from the Local Government Units (LGU) provide a surprising piece of information that the population of Besigan grows from 377 in 1990 to 1,673 in 2015 as mentioned on Philatlas.Com. For 25 years, Besigan grows and inhabits 1,296 people based on the 2015 Census. Wikipedia, an online dictionary and source of information, gives details of Besigan, which positions itself at approximately 8.2647, 124.5557 in the abundant island of Mindanao. Vacationers know that the elevation at these coordinates will be at the estimates of 390.4 meters above sea level.

A Curve Ahead on Besigan Road by Datu Cordoba

As well, the adjacent barangays of Besigan share a common border with San Isidro, Talakag, Bukidnon; Rogongon, Iligan; Barangay 3 (Poblacion), Talakag, Bukidnon; Barangay 1 (Poblacion), Talakag, Bukidnon; Barangay 5 (Poblacion), Talakag, Bukidnon; Tignapoloan, Cagayan de Oro; and Dansolihon, Cagayan de Oro according to Philatlas.Com. This place gives new hope to holidaymakers who work hard to promote local tourism and to improve the area. Mr. Datu Cordoba, a cacao farmer from Cagayan de Oro and an acquaintance on Facebook, introduces the magical and wonderful area to the local tourists. The green grass along the roads and the cold atmosphere in the area give us a simple, yet happy adventure to see the cascading waters of Besigan Falls.

Walking down on the Misty Road of Besigan by Datu Cordoba

Oh, how do we get there? Some people are asking where to go to this awesome place to dive. They cannot just resist going to the calm, cool, and refreshing waterfalls hidden somewhere in the borders. The misty road going to the area evokes memories of the silence of life and love. The misty road appears looks surreal. Such a setting reminds us to take our childhood dreams and wishes back in time. Since the place is new, we can go directly to Besigan Elementary School and find someone who can help us tour around. We know we like this. Well, this place seems inviting.

Jasaan Beach: A tempting seaboard to swim

Spending our time with family members and friends seems fun. It appears even more appealing if we spend our memories with them on a classy, exquisite, impressive, and spectacular beach. As expected, we, of course, have to pay for the necessary charges for using the venues. Depending on the type of beach resorts whether sophisticated or simple, we have to spend our money on fun and excitement. However, we have so many things to learn about gimmicks and hangouts. We have to distinguish that we can relish things without spending much money. We can go to the beach for free. Does it sound strange?

A Happy and Remarkable Memory in Jasaan Beach

Jasaan Beach in Jasaan Misamis Oriental gives us an exciting adventure without smashing our wallet or breaking our bank. If we are from Cagayan de Oro, we can just take a public utility vehicle (PUV) via Jasaan Liner at Agora Market where jeepney terminals for Jasaan Liners wait for passengers. Perhaps, we can drive our cars to Jasaan. We do not have to worry about where Jasaan Beach is. We can see it as we drive along the highway. The beach, to be sure, does not have a name. It is just called Jasaan Beach since the beach is in Jasaan. We can see it when we reach Jasaan. Besides, people there are friendly. Now, when we find a parking spot for our car, we can settle ourselves in, go to the beach waters, and dive to cool down for ourselves. After diving, we can pack our things up, get ready, and go home just as simple as that.

A Walk to Remember the Beautiful and Sweet Memories of the Past

As well, the best thing to go to Jasaan Beach is to go there with family members and friends. Sometimes, we will take our loved ones and crushes there while enjoying the talking. Young adults who are in love may usually go there as their space to enjoy walking in nature. You only need to spread your carpet on the sand, lay down all your food stuff, and talk about anything under the sun. Since the place does not have cottages, we can only use the beach at our own risk. Sometimes, our friendly dogs nearby may snatch and steal our food products while we are busy swimming in the cool beach waters.
